Dan Campbell has national media baffled with controversial 4th down decisions in Lions’ TNF win

It was crazy, nuts, bananas, but it has always worked for Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions and why not continue the trend as they converted in a controversial fourth down call late in the game to beat the Green Bay Packers 34-31.

The Lions looked really good but they take too much risks, especially when the game is on the line. In that last drive it was fourth and inches at the Packers 21-yard-line and the Lions went for it.

Jared Goff tripped by his own offensive lineman had a tough time handing the ball to David Montgomery but he somehow did and the running back managed to get the first down with 43 seconds in the game.

The backlash after the call

Despite being right after the fourth down conversion, many experts, insiders and even fans have blasted Dan Campbell for his decision making, as he could have kicked a field goal anyway but he did not wanted to give the ball back to the Packers.

Now, the Lions, who go for it on fourth down as much as they can, have clinched a playoff berth after their eleventh consecutive victory in the regular season, as they have a 12-1 record.

Campbell said after the game that the ultimate goal is to win the division and secure the number one spot in the NFC so now they can rest for the first week of the playoffs and gain home field advantage.
