There is no doubt that Davante Adams will change the New York Jets offense this season. That how good he is and with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback, the chemistry these two have will provide a show.
However, Adams not only wants to have an immediate impact on the team, he wants to create one long term. Right after being acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders, he was very clear on his future desires.
“I hope so. That’s the plan,” Davante Adams told reporters on Wednesday when asked if he’d like a multi-year relationship with the Jets. “I never go somewhere in hopes of having to find a new home.”
The cap hit in the Jets
Davante Adams signed a strong deal with the Raiders as he thought he would be there for a long time. He is due to make $35.6 million in both the 2025 and 2026 seasons, however none of that money is guaranteed.
The New York Jets restructured his contract to reduce his cap hit for the remainder of the 2024 season and it appears that he will also see an adjustment on the following two seasons.
This will allow the Jets to maintain their new wide receiver for quite some time but of course, having a 41-year-old quarterback in Rodgers can also have an impact on his future on the team.
