With a 3-8 record and only weeks remaining in the regular season, the New York Jets‘ playoff hopes are hanging by a thread.

Despite entering their bye week with optimism, the team now finds itself in a precarious position ahead of their Sunday matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Jets began the season with renewed energy, fueled by the return of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. After missing nearly the entire 2023 season due to an Achilles injury sustained in his debut game with the Jets, Rodgers‘ recovery raised expectations for a team eager to end its playoff drought, which dates back to 2010.

However, the season has not gone as planned. The Jets‘ struggles on both sides of the ball have left them at the bottom of the standings, with time running out to mount a comeback.

Adams opens up

Star wide receiver Davante Adams, acquired in October to bolster the team’s offense, opened up about the challenges on Tuesday’s Up & Adams. Reflecting on the team’s current state, Adams acknowledged the collective disappointment.

“[The energy] feels good, but obviously, nobody’s happy, just because…being in this position is disappointing,” Adams said.

“After coming into this year with high hopes, having Aaron back, and this team having a really good roster to be behind where your expectations were, it’s obviously disappointing.”

Adams, who reunited with Rodgers after their dynamic years with the Green Bay Packers, admitted he used the bye week to step back and recharge.

“I didn’t talk to Aaron or any of the guys during the bye week,” Adams shared, emphasizing the need for a mental break.

Despite their record, Adams expressed faith in the Jets’ ability to finish the season strong.

“Nobody’s turning on one another, pointing fingers,” he said. “Everybody’s locked in, trying to finish the right way.”

For the Jets, the focus will be on rekindling the connection between Rodgers and Adams, which was a cornerstone of their success in Green Bay.

The team faces a tough road ahead, but players remain committed to salvaging the season and proving their potential.
