Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, is making it crystal clear to NFL teams considering Travis Hunter in the 2025 Draft that if they’re not ready to embrace his dual-role potential, they shouldn’t bother drafting him.
Hunter, a two-way phenom excelling as both a wide receiver and cornerback, has been a standout since transferring with Sanders from Jackson State to Colorado.
Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who himself thrived as a two-way player, believes Hunter’s extraordinary talent shouldn’t be confined to just one position in the professional ranks.

In a recent interview with Rich Eisen, Sanders didn’t mince words about Hunter‘s future.
“He’s gonna do that, or they shouldn’t draft him,” Sanders said. “Don’t draft him if you’re not gonna give him the opportunity to play on both sides of the ball. Now, you can be creative. He don’t have to do what we did with him here and play every snap.”
Hunter’s unique skillset
During the 2024 regular season, Hunter amassed an impressive 1,192 receiving yards on 92 catches with 14 touchdowns. On defense, he recorded four interceptions and 11 passes defended, showcasing elite skills on both sides of the ball. His rare versatility has drawn national attention, making him one of the most dynamic NFL prospects in recent memory.
Sanders emphasized that NFL teams should approach Hunter creatively.
“Let’s say he’s starting corner,” Sanders noted. “He’s gonna have to be in your nickel packages or spread packages on offense because he’s probably your best receiver. And you’re gonna look like an idiot when your best receiver is sitting on the bench … or your best corner isn’t on the field, and they’re bombing you right now.”
Hunter‘s unmatched playmaking ability has solidified his status as a likely top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He joins Colorado’s starting quarterback, Shedeur Sanders – also Coach Prime’s son – in garnering attention as one of the best prospects entering the pro ranks.
