Deion Sanders watches Shedeur’s draft stock slip while surprising Colorado player rises at NFL Combine

When Deion Sanders took the head coaching job with the Colorado Buffaloes, his goal was to advance his own career while also bringing the program into the national spotlight. In just two seasons, he’s been able to accomplish both. Colorado has more eyes on their football team than ever before. And Sanders has already gotten linked to some NFL jobs.

His success at Colorado has also seen some of his players get more notoriety than usual. A couple of them, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, shined so much under Coach Prime that they are considered Top 10 players in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. It’s not just those two who will be playing on Sundays, either. With the wide receivers doing drills on Saturday at the combine, Colorado wideout Jimmy Horn Jr. made a name for himself.

Horn impressed many with his overall measurables, but it was his smooth performance in the gauntlet drill that really stood out.

Horn was used sporadically in his two seasons with the Buffaloes. Of course, it was tough to get him the ball with Hunter and LaJohntay Wester vacuuming up targets.

While Horn participated in the combine, his quarterback didn’t. Shedeur opted out, which is somewhat common among top quarterbacks every year. As the quarterbacks ran drills, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport dropped a report that Cam Ward has clearly surpassed Sanders as QB1 in this draft class for many teams.

The writing has been on the wall for the past few weeks. Everything continued to point to Ward being the top quarterback in the class, and reports have now confirmed it. The question will be how far Sanders will drop in April.
