The college football season is nearing its dramatic conclusion with one game left: the National Championship. The favorites Ohio State will take on Notre Dame on Monday, January 20 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. As the season comes to a close, the NFL Draft looms, and most of the eligible players have declared for the leap to the professional level. Among them, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter of the Colorado Buffaloes are projected to be top-five picks, despite their team’s lack of a bowl victory. Much of their success can be attributed to the leadership of their head coach, Deion Sanders.
Deion Sanders Embraces His Role
“Coach Prime” remains at the center of speculation as to whether he will stay with Colorado or make the jump to the NFL. While he has repeatedly stated his satisfaction with the Buffaloes, rumors of him taking over one of the six NFL teams currently without a head coach continue to grow. However, Sanders has made it clear that wherever he is, he is giving it his all. In a recent interview on the Tamron Hall Show, Sanders reflected on his philosophy: “Wherever I go, I’m supposed to be there.” That attitude, along with his unmatched work ethic, has been the key to Colorado’s impressive turnaround, watch this video and tell me if you wouldn’t follow Deion anywhere he leads.
A two-time Super Bowl champion, Sanders joined the Buffaloes after a disastrous 1-11 season. In just two years, he transformed the team, leading them to a 9-3 record and a No. 23 national ranking – their best season since 2016. Sanders doesn’t just talk about winning; he proves it with results. While the NFL is a completely different arena than college football, there is little doubt that Sanders could succeed at the professional level if given, in this case taken, the chance. I don’t know about you but the truth is that Deion is a true master of public speaking, it must be very motivating to have him as a coach because he always has the right words to inspire you to be better, which is a key part of a good coach.
Raiders Rumors Continue to Build
One of the most persistent rumors is that Sanders could join the Las Vegas Raiders. However, this move may depend on whether the Raiders can move up from the sixth overall pick to a higher position in the draft. Sanders has stated that he would only consider coaching in the NFL if it meant coaching his sons, Shedeur and Shilo. With Shedeur projected to be a top-three pick where quarterback-needy teams like the Titans, Browns and Giants are in position, the Raiders could dramatically shift the draft landscape with a trade, which I see as hard to happen unless they offer something good in return. If the Raiders can position themselves to select Shedeur, the Sanders-to-Raiders rumors could become a reality.
