Dennis Rodman responds to daughter Trinity’s heartbreaking words: I’m sorry, I’ll never stop

The complicated relationship between Dennis Rodman and his daughter, Trinity Rodman, has spilled into the public eye, igniting a wave of support and criticism on social media. Trinity, a rising soccer star for the Washington Spirit and the U.S. Women’s National Team, recently made headlines with her candid comments on the popular Call Her Daddy podcast.

During the interview, Trinity described her father in stark terms, saying, “He’s not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else.”

This public denunciation sparked a response from the NBA Hall of Famer, who took to Instagram to share his side of the story. For the first time, Rodman opened up about his role as a father, revealing not just his regret but also his ongoing efforts to rebuild his connection with his daughter.

Rodman shares emotional message

Rodman posted a video collage featuring a series of family photos from throughout Trinity’s childhood. The images capture intimate moments of father-daughter bonding, including snapshots of Trinity with her brother, DJ Rodman, and other key moments in her soccer career.

Through the post, Rodman attempted to paint a different picture of his relationship with his children – one that, in his eyes, shows he was present, even if imperfect.

In his lengthy, emotional caption, the five-time NBA champion admitted to his shortcomings as a father but emphasized that he’s always tried to be there for his children.

“Sorry I wasn’t the Dad you wanted me to be but either way I still tried and I still try and never will stop,” he wrote. “I’m always here and tell you all the time, whether it’s your voice or voicemail, how proud I am.”

Rodman’s words seemed to respond directly to Trinity’s claim that he hadn’t been present in her life. He went on to hint at possible outside interference in their relationship, suggesting that someone may have encouraged Trinity to keep her distance from him.

“I will keep trying even when you’re being told as an adult not to respond to my phone calls,” he wrote. “I will try even when it’s difficult and if it takes a long time.”

One of the most striking revelations in Rodman‘s post was his claim that he flew in to watch one of Trinity’s soccer matches but was advised not to attend due to the company he was with. While Rodman didn’t specify who “told him not to show up,” he suggested that the disapproval centered around the person accompanying him.

“I actually flew in to watch you play and was told not to show up because of who I was with,” he wrote. “So I watched you from my hotel balcony just to make everybody happy.”
