Fourteen days after the Sacramento Kings’ 125-101 loss in Los Angeles on December 28, the NBA has decided to suspend Dennis Schroder for three games for an attempted assault on Luka Doncic.
The Slovenian and the German had a clash almost throughout the game, a clash that goes back a long way and could already be seen in the Eurobasket game between Germany and Slovenia.Doncic and Schroder, both very fond of trash talking, clashed on several occasions during the game, but there was one with special relevance. In a timeout, Doncic approached Schroder and mocked him, telling him that “you should have signed that contract“, in reference to the four-year, $82 million extension that Schroder rejected from the Lakers a few years ago.
Apparently, Dennis Schröder slapped Luka Doncic in the face in the tunnel
Everything seemed to calm down with the end of the game, however, Schroder came out of the visitors’ locker room, saw Doncic and went to him to confront him right in front of the home team’s bench at the Crypto.com. The German, 40 minutes after the clash, shouted at Doncic that he could not insult him on the court and then seem that everything was fine. The NBA, after investigation, concluded that Schroder had tried to assault Doncic.
At the hottest moment, the Lakers center, DeAndre Ayton, and the security services intervened. Ayton tried to stop Schroder while security members took the Slovenian away to avoid further trouble. Doncic and his father ended up leaving on their own, while Schroder ended up getting on the bus to leave with his team.
Coincidentally, the Lakers visit Sacramento in the early hours of Monday morning, although Schroder will not be able to play the game due to the three-game suspension imposed by the NBA. But he will be on the court.
