Luka Doncic had a night of fury, as he is not having a good start to the season and unleashed all his rage against the Wolves after scoring with 64 seconds left a key three-pointer for the victory of the Mavericks in Minnesota (114-120) with which Dallas improved their record to 3-1 in this start of the season in which their star was not doing too well.
Not even in this game, where the former Real Madrid player had been too erratic for what is usual for him before scoring 11 of his 24 points in the last quarter, including that three-pointer almost from the logo of the Target Center to seal the victory for his team.
After scoring, Doncic could not contain his rage and turned to the home fans and let out a blood-curdling scream that echoed around the Wolves’ court: “That’s what I do, f**k,” he shouted to the four winds, rebelling against the boos he kept receiving from the stands.
His only three-pointer of the game
The Slovenian, who finished with 24 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, exploded in this way after scoring his only three-pointer of the game (1/8). It was the masterful way he had of getting even for his erratic night:
I don’t know how I make those shots and not the normal ones… I just have to get the rust off. I didn’t play all preseason, so I need some time
Luka Doncic (Jugador de los Mavericks)
“I don’t know how I make those shots and not the normal shots… I just have to get the rust off. I didn’t play all preseason, so I need some time. But we got the win. That’s all that matters,” said Luka, who missed his team’s preseason with a calf injury.
Luka loves the opportunity to win the game. He’s not afraid to step up and make big shots
Jason Kidd (Entrenador de los Mavericks)
Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd also shared his opinion and reiterated that Luka lives for such decisive moments: “He enjoys being able to have that opportunity… Someone just said, ‘We’ve seen this movie before’. Luka loves the opportunity to win the game. He’s not afraid to step up and make big shots”.
Second incident with Wolves
It’s not the first time Doncic has faced Wolves fans, a very hot crowd that motivates a natural competitor like him. In fact, he had a well-known incident with a fan in last season’s Western Conference Finals.
“Who’s crying now, motherfucker?” he said totally enraged to a fan who was mocking him from the stands after making a 2+1, an insult that even surprised rapper Snoop Dogg, who was sitting in the front row. Doncic finished the game with 36 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to get his team into the Finals.
