Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma, Manchester City goalkeeper and last season at PSG, was awarded the FIFA Best Goalkeeper award.
Donnarumma, who was already recognised in September with the Yashin Trophy, completed a magnificent season, with decisive performances for the Parisian side, who not only dominated domestic tournaments but also won the Champions League for the first time.
The 26-year-old from Castellammare di Stabia, who was runner-up in 2021, takes over from Argentina’s Emiliano Martinez, last year’s winner, and is the first Italian to receive this recognition since Gianluigi Buffon in 2017.
Donnarumma beat out the other nominees, Alisson Becker, Thibaut Courtois, Emiliano Martinez, Manuel Neuer, David Raya, Yann Sommer and Wojciech Szczesny.
