Bad news for Bayern Munich and Alphonso Davies. The Canadian left-back has torn the cruciate ligament in his right knee and will undergo immediate surgery. The 24-year-old says goodbye to the season and it will be difficult to see him on the pitch until well into next season
Davies was injured early in Canada’s 2-1 win over the United States in California. Bayern made it official through a statement.

Max Eberl, Bayern’s sporting director, lamented the misfortune: “During international breaks, unfortunately, there is always the risk that players will return injured; this time it has affected us especially. ‘Phonzy’ will receive all the support he needs on his return.”
Davies had just renewed his contract with the German club after almost a year of flirting with Real Madrid. This was acknowledged by his own agent shortly after that renewal: “We negotiated with Real Madrid in January”.
Upamecano also absent
Meanwhile, Dayot Upamecano will also be sidelined with a left knee problem, ruling him out of action for the Bavarians for several weeks.
