The Golden State Warriors‘ 137-131 overtime victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night was overshadowed by Moses Moody’s terrifying knee injury.
However, amid the pain, a gesture from one of his teammates brought some warmth to this difficult moment.
Moody receives support from Green
‘MoMo’ had just returned to action after sitting out 10 games with a wrist injury, and against Dallas, he had tallied 23 points, three rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks before his injury.
With just 58 seconds left in overtime, the 23-year-old forward was poised to score an uncontested bucket after stealing the ball from Copper Flagg, but as he jumped, his knee gave out and he fell to the floor, filling the American Airlines Center with uncertainty and concern.
Eventually, he had to be carried off the court on a stretcher, but it was at that very moment that Draymond approached his teammate and hugged him, showing him not only his support but also his affection.
Furthermore, in a post-game press conference, he stated:
“I just feel for Mo, man. He’s a pro’s pro.”
The truth is that Green has drawn attention on several occasions for his explosive temper and clashes with teammates, but this time, everything was different, and that’s why Green’s gesture won over the fans, who expressed their gratitude toward him. In a video shared by Bleacher Report, users commented:
“Class act from Draymond. Wishing Moody a speedy recovery,” said one of them.
“Sometimes, a good hug is like an instant health potion, but with feels,” wrote another.
“Tough moment. Draymond Green showing love to Moses Moody says a lot. But yeah, that injury still looked scary,” added a third fan.
Moody had started in 49 of the Warriors’ 60 games, averaging 11.9 points per game. After the game, head coach Steve Kerr also spoke with the press and did not hide his concern: “We don’t know what it is yet, but it sure looked bad. Everybody on the floor was just horrified,” he said.
Moses joins the Warriors’ injury list alongside Jimmy Butler (torn ACL) and Stephen Curry (persistent right knee issue).
With 34 wins and 38 losses, Golden State sits in tenth place in the Western Conference. They will face the Brooklyn Nets this Wednesday, the 25th, and the Washington Wizards on Friday, the 27th, both at the Chase Center.
