Former NBA star Dwight Howard has officially filed for divorce from his wife Amber Howard, just hours after she made a series of explosive accusations against him during a widely viewed social media livestream. The sudden legal filing marks another dramatic chapter in the turbulent relationship between the former Los Angeles Lakers center and the entertainer also known as Amy Luciani.
According to TMZ, court documents show Howard filed for divorce on Monday, March 10, 2026.
The filing confirmed that the couple married on January 11, 2025, but it also stated that the relationship had reached a point where reconciliation was no longer possible.
In the documents, Howard described the marriage as “irretrievably broken.”

Despite the separation, the filing noted that the couple has no children together. The former Lakers big man also requested exclusive use of his Georgia mansion as part of the divorce proceedings.
The legal action arrived shortly after Luciani – real name Amber Howard – made a series of shocking allegations against Howard during a livestream on Instagram.
Allegations ignite intense online reaction
The broadcast quickly spread across social media platforms and reportedly attracted more than 2.5 million viewers.
During the livestream, Luciani claimed that Child Protective Services had intervened in their household.
According to her statements, the agency had removed Howard’s daughter from the home due to alleged substance abuse.
She stated that CPS had visited their residence three times within a two-month period, fueling speculation about the state of the couple’s family life and the seriousness of the accusations.
In the video, Luciani also displayed a bag containing a substance she referenced while making claims about alleged cocaine use by the former NBA star.
The allegations sparked immediate debate online, with fans and commentators discussing the implications surrounding professional athletes, substance abuse, and family disputes unfolding in the public eye.
As of now, Howard has not publicly responded to the accusations made by Luciani.
Luciani’s career and rocky romance
While her recent livestream brought renewed attention to the couple’s relationship, Luciani has built a career across multiple entertainment platforms.
She first entered the entertainment industry at a young age, performing in the girl group Entrance alongside her sisters.
During that early stage of her career, the group opened for popular acts including B2K and Bow Wow, providing exposure to large audiences and the realities of the music industry.
After relocating to Atlanta, Luciani began focusing on her solo music career. She released several singles including “Bag Lady,” “Somebody,” and “Voicemail,” which helped her carve out an independent presence in the hip-hop scene.
The latest divorce filing is not the first time the couple’s marriage has faced serious challenges. Luciani initially filed for divorce in July 2025, roughly six months after their wedding.
At the time, the split appeared imminent before the couple ultimately reconciled later in the year. Now, with Howard formally filing for divorce and describing the relationship as beyond repair, the separation may prove permanent.
For the former Lakers star, the situation represents a deeply personal controversy unfolding under intense public scrutiny and one that could continue to spill more details out about their personal lives with a bitter divorce awaiting.
