Elly De La Cruz enters the Tyreek Hill and Noah Lyles debate for fastest man in the world

It seems another athlete is willing to challenge Noah Lyles over his ‘world’s fastest man’ title, and this time it isn’t Tyreek Hill.

The American took home gold at the Paris Olympics in the 100m, but that didn’t stop Hill from questioning Lyles’ abilities.

In fact, Hill even suggested the two battle it out in a 50-yard battle to see who was the fastest between the two.

However, Lyles responded by stating a 60 meter race might be possible.

“We’re in talks,” said Lyles.

Another athlete looking to challenge Lyles

While Hill has been quiet on the subject in recent times, it appears another athlete is ready to challenge him.

Elly De La Cruz is known for his prowess on the bases in MLB. That was made evident after he hit the landmark of 100 stolen bases in just 251 games.

That means the Cincinnati Reds star is the only MLB player ever to have at least 100 stolen bases and 30 home runs in their first two season.

While celebrating his achievements, MLB posted on their social media account by captioning him as the “fastest man on earth.”

Fans took the opportunity to take jabs at Lyles, joking that he hasn’t stolen 100 bases.

Another wrote: “This dude [De La Cruz] is such a fast runner he’s going to be a good one for a while.”

One fan stated: “If this man wasn’t playing baseball, he would be a track star.”

While it remains to be seen whether De La Cruz would be interested in testing out his skills against Lyles, what is certain is that the debate over who the fastest man on the planet is will continue to drag on – at least on social media.
