Elon Musk’s X says NFL fans will be able to use a special feature on the platform that will get them even closer to the action.
The social media platform and the NFL have partnered on a new centralized portal that will provide fans with just NFL-related content.
The portal, which was revealed by an X spokesperson to the New York Post, will allow users to curate tweets from NFL teams, rights partners (like SNF on NBC) and reporters from outlets like NFL Media and ESPN.
Fans will also be able to check things like scores, statistics and standings in other tabs.
“I believe in partnering with the biggest and best,” X CEO Linda Yaccarino said. “And it doesn’t get any bigger and better than the NFL.
“Today, football fans around the world will see the power of X and NFL right on their screens. X is the world’s largest stadium and we are delivering the ultimate fan experience.”
NFL content is a force on X
Metirics suggest that 56 percent of users on X are NFL fans, while 40 percent of sports posts are about the NFL. Add in that the Super Bowl is usually the most-talked bout event on X with 19.2m posts and 1.1b views this past year, and you can see why the two entities have chosen to work with another.
“We’re constantly looking to increase the number of ways fans can engage with the NFL across all forms of media,’ said Ian Trombetta, NFL senior vice president of social & influencer marketing.
“The newly-launched NFL Portal on X will provide an enhanced way to enjoy the gameday experience, allowing fans to keep up with all the action from across the league.”
