The original plan for the Euro 2028 says that it will be played in the United Kingdom and Ireland. This edition promises to be a great event, with both regions sharing the responsibility of hosting and offering a variety of iconic stadiums.
The exact start date of Euro 2028 is yet to be determined. However, it is scheduled to be played from June to July of that year. Specific dates will be announced closer to the event but there could be some rescheduling.
UEFA has warned the FA that England could be banned from hosting the nations tournament if Sir Keir Starmer pushes ahead with his plans to create a men’s football regulator, sources have said.
Speculations are in the air
According to these reports, a leaked copy of a letter from UEFA to the Culture Secretary has warned against any “government interference in the running of football”. This after there have been plans to prevent top clubs forming breakaway leagues and curb financial mismanagement.
These new laws would allow a newly created watchdog to oversee clubs in the top five divisions in England’s football leagues. According to the leaked letter, it said it was a “fundamental requirement” that the game remained independent.
If these specifications are not meted, then the sanction could be the banning of the host nation from its own tournament. There is a still a lot to be solved and the Euro is still four years away, however many believe that the FA should solve those problems immediately.
