France coach Didier Deschamps has announced his 25-man squad for Euro 2024 with his side undoubtedly one of the favourites to win the tournament.
Kylian Mbappe, as expected, leads the list of the French team as their star name, but there are two surprises names back in the reckoning.
Real Madrid full-back Ferland Mendy and N’Golo Kant, who joined Al-Ittihad in July 2023, have both been recalled to the squad after a two-year absence.
In addition to the two aforementioned names, the big new addition to the squad is PSG winger Bradley Barcola, who is yet to win a cap for Les Bleus and is making his debut in the squad in time for in Germany.
Despite being allowed 26 players under new UEFA regulations, France’s list is for 25 players only and Deschamps has decided to count on injured trio Aurlien Tchouameni, Mike Maignan and Kingsley Coman. However, Lucas Hernandez misses out due to a long-term knee problem.
Facing Poland, the Netherlands and Austria in Group D, the road will not be easy but France remain one of the competition’s favourites.
