Fans defy the NBA and revive Magic City night with a rebellion in Atlanta

Atlanta Hawks fans ignored the NBA’s refusal to allow Magic City Night. The themed celebration honoring the iconic strip club was not permitted to take place on Monday, March 16, 2026, but that did not stop the atmosphere from taking shape.

At State Farm Arena, during the game against the Orlando Magic, it became clear that fans paid little attention to the league’s stance and chose instead to celebrate in their own way. Despite the NBA’s intentions, it could not prevent the stands from being filled with the club’s signature colors and energy.

Even team owner Jami Gertz was seen wearing a hoodie while enjoying the game from courtside seats. The environment appeared to energize the players, who delivered an impressive performance on the court.

The Atlanta Hawks achieve a historic streak

With a 124-112 victory over the Magic, the Hawks secured their tenth consecutive win, marking their longest streak in more than a decade. The last time they achieved such a run dates back to the 2014-15 season.

The standout performers of the night were:

  • Nickeil Alexander-Walker with 41 points, including nine three-pointers
  • Jalen Johnson, who recorded a triple-double for the second consecutive game

The 18,138 fans in attendance experienced a memorable celebration. In unison, they enjoyed their lemon pepper wings while embracing the festive atmosphere. With this tenth straight victory, the Hawks moved into eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

They now hold a 37-31 record, tied with the Philadelphia 76ers. Just ahead of them in seventh place is the Miami Heat, who stand at 38-30. The path now appears to be aligning for Atlanta as it seeks at least a spot in the play-in tournament.

Upcoming games for the Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks aim to maintain their impressive ten-game winning streak and extend it in the following matchups:

  • Wednesday, March 18: vs. Dallas Mavericks (Away)
  • Friday, March 20: vs. Houston Rockets (Away)
  • Saturday, March 21: vs. Golden State Warriors (Home)
  • Monday, March 23: vs. Memphis Grizzlies (Home)
  • Wednesday, March 25: vs. Detroit Pistons (Away)

With momentum clearly on their side, Atlanta will look to continue capitalizing on its recent success and strengthen its position as the postseason race intensifies, driven by both on-court execution and the unwavering support of its passionate fan base throughout this remarkable stretch.
