FIFA statement
“Following the disciplinary proceedings opened against CF Pachuca and Club Leon, the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee decided to refer the case directly to the FIFA Appeal Committee, in accordance with Article 56 § 3 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
After evaluating all the evidence in the file, the chairman of the FIFA Appeal Committee has decided that CF Pachuca and Club Leon do not meet the criteria on multi-club ownership set out in Article 10, paragraph 1, of the Regulations for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
In accordance with Article 10, paragraph 4, of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Regulations, FIFA has determined that Club Leon be withdrawn from the competition, and that the club to be admitted as a substitute will be announced in due course.
Pachuca, outraged: “We won on the field fairly”
“A few moments ago we were notified by FIFA that one of the two teams, Pachuca and Leon, participating in the 2025 Club World Cup will be excluded from the competition. The reasons for this decision have not been communicated to us
We are dissatisfied with this decision, which we will appeal to the highest sports tribunal, as all the evidence and documentation proving our administrative and sporting independence was presented with absolute timeliness and transparency
In our case, we will defend what was won on the field in a fair, professional manner and in compliance with the rules of the competition.
