The Real Madrid fans erupted with joyous cheers as they welcomed the victorious team back to the headquarters of the Community of Madrid following their triumphant heroes after their 15th Champions League title.
Amidst the jubilant atmosphere at Puerta del Sol, Isabel Diaz Ayuso, the president of the Community of Madrid, honored Florentino Perez with a badge in recognition of their sporting achievement.
In return, Perez graciously presented Ayuso with a replica of the coveted Champions League trophy, along with a jersey signed by every member of the squad, adorned with Perez‘s name and the number 1.
“Real Madrid has once again captured the hearts of millions worldwide who dream of this crest,” Perez stated.
“We are grateful for the warm welcome here in the Community of Madrid. While our club’s influence knows no bounds, Madrid remains our foundation and starting point.
“This European Cup has stirred the passions of fans once more. Our players displayed unwavering dedication in a challenging match.
“I extend my congratulations to Borussia Dortmund, worthy adversaries, along with their players, coaching staff, and CEO, who holds a special place as a friend.”
A Standing Ovation to Remember
Perez continued with his speech, changing topic to thank some of the more experienced players.
“Injuries presented obstacles, yet this group emerged victorious. We stand in the presence of Real Madrid and football legends,” he continued.
“Dear players, your contributions bring us joy that will endure. Some among you have achieved a milestone surpassed only by our beloved Paco Gento: six European Cups.
“To Nacho, Dani Carvajal, Luka Modric, and especially Toni Kroos, gratitude is due for your contributions on and off the pitch,”
This prompted a thunderous standing ovation that will live long in the memory. Toni Kroos, initially hesitant, rose to reciprocate the affection bestowed upon him, a fitting tribute to his exemplary conduct.
“Thank you for your outstanding football and exemplary behavior throughout the years,” Perez concluded, visibly moved by Kroos‘ farewell.
