FX’s Aaron Hernandez show is a disaster as sports fans can’t stop pointing out hilarious flaws

Aaron Hernandez‘s life story is one that seems surreal. There wouldn’t be much to a very good college football player entering the NFL and dominating under arguably the best head coach-quarterback duo in league history. But Hernandez was disturbed deep down, which eventually led to a first-degree murder which ended his career and sent him to prison.

Hernandez’s troubled life was covered quite well by Netflix in a documentary called “Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez“. Piggybacking off of the documentary’s success, FX chose to use Hernandez as the next subject in their “American Sports Story” series. Despite the series holding decent ratings overall through the first few episodes, sports fans have not been pleased with it at all.

Rob Gronkowski first encounter with Bill Belichick

Why do sports fans not like the new Aaron Hernandez show?

Fans have been particularly stunned by the portrayal of head coach Bill Belichick. Actor Norbert Leo Butz tries to convey Belichick’s dead-pan quips and stoic personality, but it falls painfully short of the legendary coach’s true nature.

Owner Robert Kraft doesn’t go down well either. The acting is one thing, but the show also makes several errors when it comes to basic football details.

For instance, Hernandez’s position is listed as “DB” on the Patriots’ draft board, instead of “TE” for tight end, his actual position. And for some reason, Erik Cook‘s profile card has pass-rush-receiving stats on it, despite him being an offensive lineman.

It screams of a lack of attention to detail. The actors portraying the NFL figures differently can be excused, but basic errors are a whole other issue.
