Giannis Antetokounmpo injury update: Milwaukee delivers bad news about the Greek player

Greek basketball star Giannis Antetokounmpo said on Friday that he suffered a calf injury during the game against the Denver Nuggets and estimated a recovery time of between four and six weeks.
Antetokounmpo was injured in a non-contact action late in the game, in which the Milwaukee Bucks lost 100-102, and left the court with 32 seconds remaining.

“Probably the next step is to get an MRI tomorrow. After the MRI they will tell me, surely, that I have broken something in the calf, in the soleus or something like that,” Antetokounmpo told reporters after the game.
“Most likely they will give me a protocol of between four and six weeks. I say this from my experience in the NBA. From there I will work hard to come back. That would probably be late February or early March,” added the Greek.

“Hopefully the team is then in a situation where at least we can fight for the play-in,” he concluded, with some resignation.
Antetokounmpo has missed 14 of the Bucks’ 44 games this season due to injury.

The Bucks (18-26) are currently 11th in the East, four wins behind the Atlanta Hawks (22-25), the team that occupies the last postseason spot. The injury comes less than two weeks before the close of the NBA’s transfer window, with Antetokounmpo’s departure from Milwaukee as one of the possibilities that has been generating noise since the beginning of this season.
