Grupo Pachuca wants to return Chucky Lozano to Europe with Real Oviedo

Real Oviedo is discreetly working on a high-impact operation to strengthen its attacking front. On the club’s agenda is the name of Chucky Lozano, an international footballer whose contractual situation opens the door to a possible departure in this winter market.

The Mexican winger currently belongs to San Diego FC, with whom he is under contract until the end of 2028, although the American club is looking for a new destination for him. In this context, Oviedo is interested in the player and is considering the option of signing him on loan if conditions allow.

The main obstacle to the deal is economic, as the player’s salary is well above the club’s usual parameters. However, the relationship between Lozano and Jesus Martinez, president of Grupo Pachuca, as well as the open dialogue with those in charge at San Diego, keep alive a negotiation that is not ruled out.

Formed at Pachuca, Lozano is one of the most recognized Mexican soccer players of the last decade. His career includes a distinguished spell in Europe, where he competed at the highest level in both the Netherlands and Italy

With PSV he played almost 100 official matches, signing notable figures of goals and assists, before making the leap to Napoli, who invested a large amount to secure his services. In Serie A he accumulated more than a hundred games, consolidating himself as a regular player in the rotation.

At the international level, the striker has had his moments with the Mexican national team, with a wide presence in official matches and a relevant goal-scoring record, which reinforces his profile as an experienced footballer.

The fact that there is a World Cup next summer is an added incentive for the player to consider playing in Spain and to be in good shape for an important event for his country.

Talks are ongoing and, according to sources close to the operation, the player would be happy to move to Oviedo. With the financial terms yet to be finalised, this option could alter other plans being considered by the sporting management, including the possible signing of Jacobo Gonzalez, whose signing would take a back seat if the ‘Lozano route’ is successful.
