How LeBron James and Stephen Curry got unwillingly dragged into NBA’s LGBTQ drama

The Chicago Bulls are in the news for the wrong reasons this week. Jaden Ivey, who was acquired by the team in February via a trade, was released by the team following an ill-advised rant against the NBA’s LGBTQ activism.

Ivey went off on the league during an Instagram live, exclaiming that the NBA was celebrating “unrighteousness” during their Pride Month. His controversial statements ultimately led to the team cutting ties, and Ivey went right back to Instagram to try to justify the situation. Following his release, he went on yet another rant, and for some reason invoked LeBron James and Stephen Curry.

Jaden Ivery released by Chicago Bulls amidst religious, “manic” episode

Ivey, first and foremost, has been trying to make people aware that everyone needs to “know the real Jesus”. With Christianity at the forefront, Ivey took the opportunity to call out James and Curry for not truly embracing the religion. He believes they are focusing on the wrong things.

It’s not gonna do no good doing your will and trying to win championships and you’re not doing the will of God. That’s why many don’t know the real Jesus. That’s why you got Steph Curry and he’s not even surrender(ed) and y’all believe he’s a Christian… All them rings LeBron [and Curry] got, Michael Jordan got, all them people in the Hall of Fame who don’t know Jesus Christ, it’s not gonna matter on Judgment Day and your name is not written in the Book of Life.

Ivey’s comments have sparked major backlash, while many others are concerned about his mental well-being. There are plenty of people who believe he’s going through a manic episode.
