Rapper Ice Spice recently shared a light-hearted confession about her experience at the 2024 Super Bowl, where she attended the game with pop superstar Taylor Swift.
Ice Spice: I had no clue at the Super Bowl
During an appearance on “The Tonight Show,” the “Princess Diana” artist admitted she was completely baffled by the game and relied heavily on Swift’s football knowledge to navigate the event.
“I was incredibly confused. I’m still confused,”Ice Spice, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston, told host Jimmy Fallon.
The rapper laughed as Fallon pointed out that she appeared puzzled while watching Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, compete against the San Francisco 49ers.
Fallon further probed Ice Spice about her familiarity with football before attending the game.
She candidly replied, “You know, that day, I had, like, a sense of knowing, but it just went away.”
Ice Spice reiterated her confusion, explaining that she did not have a clue about the game.
She joined Swift and her star-studded group of friends, which included Blake Lively, Lana Del Rey, and Keleigh Teller, at Allegiant Stadium near Las Vegas.
“I honestly would just wait until Taylor cheered, and then I’m like, ‘Yay!'” she said, clapping as she recalled the moment.
The rapper’s apparent confusion did not go unnoticed by fans, who took to social media to share their observations.
One viral clip showed Swift pointing to the field and explaining something to Ice Spice, who initially looked puzzled before seemingly understanding and responding with an “Oh!”
Ice Spice dishes on her friendship with Taylor Swift
The friendship between Swift and Ice Spice blossomed after their collaboration on a remix of Swift’s song “Karma” last year.
Swift later invited Ice Spice to perform the remix during her Eras Tour, solidifying their bond.
Despite some online speculations that Swift befriended Ice Spice for clout, the rapper dismissed these claims.
“Why would she not want to be my friend? Taylor f-ks with me. She’s so funny. I think our personalities mesh really well,” she stated in a recent Rolling Stone interview.
Swift echoed these sentiments, praising Ice Spice’s curiosity and engagement with the music industry.
“Seeing Ice lean into the strategic, financial, and business aspects of her career is really exciting for me,”Swift remarked.
“I knew based on the questions she asked and the observations she made that she didn’t just want to be a passenger in her own career; she wanted to be the driver of it.”
Since her breakout single “Munch (Feelin’ U)” in 2022, Ice Spice has quickly risen to fame.
She released her debut EP “Like..?” last year and recently dropped her first full-length album, “Y2K!,” inspired by her love for early 2000s aesthetics.
The rapper is currently on her Y2K! World Tour, which will conclude in Miami on August 31.
