The combatJake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight reported a record audience and it is estimated that around 65 million people tuned in to Netflix to watch the live stream, despite the transmission failures that left doubts about the company’s ability to handle such massive events, especially with the NFL games that will be on the platform for Christmas.
But to this number of people who watched the fight live should be added the illegal broadcasts, one of the most mediatic was that of former NFL player Antonio Brown, which had about 6.6 million viewers and went so viral that it came to the attention of Jake Paul, who highlighted the figure on his X account, with a message in which he did not leave the NBA in a good light, as according to ‘The Problem Child’ it was higher than the average audience of the 2024 playoffs.
“More people watched an illegal stream of my fight with Mike Tyson than the 2024 NBA playoffs averaged @netflix,” Jake Paul posted about a post by Alex Barth, co-host and journalist of the New England Patriots‘ Catch-22 podcast, of the video Antonio Brown posted live from AT&T Stadium, a message that AB humorously replied to: “Jake Paul. Welcome to #CTESPN.”
According to reports, the average viewership for the 2024 NBA Playoffs on ABC, ESPN and TNT was 4.53 million.
Jake Paul boasts better numbers than UFC
Although the fight was a disappointment for fans, for Jake Paul it is a source of pride because of the numbers it produced, as he also boasted on his X account that according to his data it surpassed the best attendance that any UFC event has had.
“It’s crazy that we did a gate bigger than any UFC event in history and that company is over 30 years old. The biggest gate of Mike Tyson’s career. The biggest attendance of Mike’s career. The biggest audience of Mike’s career. The biggest combat sports gate in US combat sports history outside of Las Vegas. It takes two to tango,” wrote ‘The Problem Child’ on X.
