Incredible alley-oop from beyond halfcourt to a 360 Slam is a NBA dunk of the year heavy contender

The Indiana Pacers are on a roll in March as they have won four games in a row and seven straight at home with 12 games remaining on the regular season.

Their lates win was against the Brooklyn Nets 108-103 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. With the victory, the Pacers hold tight to fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

Insane alley-oop! A 360 slam mid-air is an NBA Dunk of the Year heavy contender

The team is lead by center Myles Turner, forward Pascal Siakam, and shooting guard Tyrese Haliburton, who matched his personal-best streak of 10 straight games with a double-double. That also matches the most consecutive double-doubles for points and assists in Pacers franchise history.

Obi Toppin throws down a monster dunk

It was Haliburton who was part of one of the best plays of the Pacers vs. Nets game. Tyrese was dribbling down the court during the fourth quarter with the Pacers up by 7, and as soon as he crossed half court he passed the ball to Obi Toppin, who had no defenders close to him.

The incredible alley-oop was finished with a 360 slam mid-air, a play that got everyone at Gainbridge Fieldhouse up their seats and screaming with joy as they got to witness what could easily be one of the best dunks of the 2024 NBA regular season.

Let’s not forget that Obi Toppin was the last NBA player to win the Slam Dunk Contest, back in 2022 when he played for the New York Knicks. Since then, Osceola Magic guard Mac MacClung has won three contests in a row, something that’s very impressive but that has fans questioning if there’s not enough talented league dunkers that can put on a show at the event.

Pacers hoping for a good playoff matchup

If the regular season were to end today, the Indiana Pacers – who hold the fourth place in the Eastern Conference – would face the fifth-seed Milwaukee Bucks in a best-of-seven series in the first round of the playoffs. It would be a tough match, taking into consideration that the rival has superstars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Dame Lillard.

The Pacers just keep on winning as the 2024-2025 regular season winds down, which is great news for the fans. Most of those wins have come in very close games. “There’s no gimmicks or shortcuts to closing out an NBA game. You saw some things at the end that were a bit zany. We’ve got to learn from those things and be very thankful that we got out of here with a win.” head coach Rick Carlisle said after the victory over the Nets.

Indiana will host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday and the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday before hitting the road to take on the Washington Wizards on Thursday and Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday.
