After months of negotiations, Inter Miami officially announced on Wednesday the contract extension of Luis Suarez with the MLS club. The legendary striker, the team’s leading goalscorer in 2024, has signed until the end of 2025, i.e. at the end of next year’s MLS season, which occupies the calendar year. The Miami club continues its overhaul of its team, which began yesterday with the appointment of new head coach Javier Mascherano.
“In 2024, Luis brought to Inter all the elements that make him one of the best strikers of all time. His performance for us was elite, and we are excited to see him continue with us next season,” said president of football operations Raul Sanllehi. “Luis was not only our top scorer this season, but also a leader for the group. His impact cannot be underestimated,” he said.

“I am very happy, very excited to continue for another year and to be able to enjoy being here with these fans, which for us is like a family. We feel very, very connected with them and hopefully next year we can give them even more joy,” said Suarez, who turns 38 next January.
Suarez helped guide the Miami club to a record-breaking 2024 season, leading the team to its first Supporters’ Shield title and setting the MLS single-season points record. His contributions were crucial during the campaign, as he led the team in goals with 25 in all competitions; Suarez’s 20 regular-season goals also made him the second-highest scorer in MLS in 2024 (tied with teammate Lionel Messi). The talisman also added nine assists in the regular season, as well as a goal and an assist in the playoffs. He was an ever-present figure leading the team’s attack, playing 37 matches in all competitions in 2024, including 27 in the regular season.
