Ja Morant gets in trouble again for his passion for guns: He faces a new NBA sanction

The United States of America as a whole has a problem with guns, but in the NBA, one man more than any other is associated with guns.

Ja Morant has managed to land himself in trouble multiple times thanks to his seeming obsession with guns, and it could be happening again.

In 2023, Morant was suspended for 25 games after he brandished a gun whilst on a social media live, and that was the second time he had done it.

Ja Morant‘s decision to once again wield a firearm on social media is alarming and disconcerting given his similar conduct in March for which he was already suspended eight games,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver at the time.

“The potential for other young people to emulate Ja‘s conduct is particularly concerning. Under these circumstances, we believe a suspension of 25 games is appropriate and makes clear that engaging in reckless and irresponsible behavior with guns will not be tolerated,” Silver said.

Clearly, the Memphis Grizzlies star has not entirely learned his lesson. His latest offence is not as serious as waving a real gun on the internet, but he seemed to make a gun gesture towards the Golden State Warriors bench during a recent match.

Fans react to the gesture

Many fans have been quick to jump on Morant‘s back and think that he should be banned again.

“Ja needs to get suspended for the imitation shooting a gun at the Warriors’ bench. Dude will never EVER learn,” said one fan.

Ja Morant literally just pretended he was shooting a gun at the Warriors’ bench. And that’s the guy you want to be the identity of your franchise Memphis? Pathetic. Suspend his a- again @NBA” commented another fan.

Regarding the fact that he is constantly linked to guns, there were voices in 2023 blaming the player’s mother, Jamie Morant, directly.

One of them was popular comedian and radio host Corey Holcomb, who seemed to be privy to the family’s private life.

“I didn’t know until now what happened recently at a mall where Ja Morant’s mother got into a fight with a shoe store clerk. She called out to her son, Ja Morant, and said, ‘Woo, woo, woo,'” Holcomb explains.

“The next thing that happened, Ja Morant and eight of his friends showed up at the shoe store. They chased the boy who was supposedly arguing with his mother, who was forced to run and lock himself in the store when his safety was in danger.”
