Dak Prescott’s new hamstring injury could keep him off the field for several weeks. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback had to leave the field after completing a pass to Jalen Brooks in the game that the Cowboys lost to the Atlanta Falcons.
Jerry Jones worried about his team
It is not yet known how long Prescott will be out of action, but Jerry Jones has expectations that his team will respond, despite not having its star player.
“It’s a long period of time here,” Jones said. “I wouldn’t dare make a prediction as to when it might be. We’ll see how his rehab goes.”
Although Jones acknowledges that Prescott’s injury is a setback, he has faith that backup quarterback Cooper Rush will do a good job.
“There’s no question that Dak’s injury is a setback,” Jones added. “But we’ve seen Cooper do it. We know what we need to do, the strategies on offense. We just have to come together game after game and use all our players to the extent that it helps us.”
Prescott should play despite being injured
When the news broke about Dak’s injury, former NFL wide receiver James Jones did not hold back and stated that he believes another player with more character would have stayed on the field, despite being injured, especially when his team needed him most.
“Dak quit. It’s crazy because it’s not even funny. My friend is quitting on these guys. I’ve had a hamstring injury many times and the next week I was back,” Jones said bluntly, leaving the rest of those present surprised.
Jones did not stop criticizing Prescott for several minutes and emphasized that four weeks out could cost Dallas a playoff berth.
“I’m not Tyreek Hill, it doesn’t take me four weeks to heal from a hamstring injury. You’re not Lamar Jackson. You’re not Jalen Hurts. You’re not running… where are you going to run? Where are you running? Four weeks? Basically, put me on ice for four weeks. No fighting. Nothing… This is a hamstring for a quarterback who is not explosive in that position,” Jones added.
Prescott has received a lot of criticism for his attitude in Dallas’ last few games. In the game against the Falcons, the cameras caught him saying to a teammate: “We fu*ing suck”, referring to the fact that the Cowboys at that time were not performing as expected.
