Jared Goff assumes loss to Commanders will ‘eat him alive’ and even wife Christen Harper can’t help him

The Detroit Lions‘ quarterback, Jared Goff, is taking the blame for their shocking NFC Divisional Game defeat to the Washington Commanders by saying if he played better, they would have probably won.

A stunned Ford Field watched the NFC North leaders walk off with a 45-31 loss as their Super Bowl dreams were brutally ended by Jayden Daniels and his offense, who notably scored 28 points in the second quarter.

Now as the fall out begins to settle on the night in Motown, the inquiry into just what went wrong has begun and Goff is already putting his hands up to take responsibility after throwing three interceptions.

“Had I played better, do we win? Possibly, you know,” Goff told reporters after the game. “And that’s the part that’ll eat me alive for the whole offseason.”

Of the three interceptions thrown, one was returned for a touchdown and the other ended a Lions drive in the first quarter when the score 7-3 in their favor. Another interception was a pick-six.

Goff also added a fumble and could only maintain a 57.5% passing accuracy from 40 attempts. He managed to throw the ball for 313 yards and one touchdown, however.

Meanwhile, the Commanders’ Daniels threw 31 attempts for a 70.9% completion rate and gave his team 299 yards and two touchdowns. The rookie quarterback also rushed for 51 yards from 16 carries too.

Brian Robinson Jr. also starred on the night for Washington by adding 77 yards from 15 carries for two touchdowns as the travelling side handed a brutal reality check to the Lions, who had a remarkable regular season.

The Commanders now move onto the NFC Conference Championship, where they will take on either the Philadelphia Eagles or the Los Angeles Rams for a spot in Super Bowl LIX in early February.
