No one doubts that fatherhood has countless blessings. However, as Jason Kelce just described it, it also brings with it so many responsibilities and worries that a father can’t help but occasionally feel like he’s “screwed,” especially if he’s about to welcome his fourth daughter.
Just last week, Jason’s wife Kylie Kelce announced her new pregnancy, revealing at the same time that they are expecting a girl. The couple already has three other daughters, Wyatt, 5; Elliotte, 3; and Bennett, 21 months.
Friends and family showered the couple with congratulations on the news, while Jason had been tight-lipped in his remarks. However, the former Philadelphia Eagles star recently had a moment of sincerity and admitted that not everything is happiness, as he begins to feel the weight of responsibility from today.
The unfiltered feelings of a father
“Fourth girl. I’m screwed,” Kelce joked in a chat on The Rich Eisen Show. Furthermore, looking to the future, the former Eagles center admitted, “I’m screwed [in] like in 10 years. The moment they’re all in middle school, I feel like it’s just gonna be chaos.”
The news is so recent that the family is still trying to adjust. “We’re still figuring out three too. So I guess at this point it’s…” Kelce began, and Eisen completed, “playing zone defense?” Kelce nodded, saying, “Hopefully, Wyatt can start helping out a little bit more in a couple of… in a few months here.”
The former player admitted that being a father of four daughters has its pros and cons. “I obviously haven’t had a son, but there is something about a daughter in the way. I think like a dad, you feel an extra amount probably of protection and love toward that child.”
The news surprised the older sisters
At the time of breaking the news, Kylie shared a photo where her three oldest daughters show their reactions to the announcement: Wyatt, incredulous; Elliott, happy; and Bennett, crying. “I feel like we captured a very accurate representation of how each of the girls feel about getting another sister,” Kylie captioned the image.
“At least Ellie, mom and dad are on the same page!” Kylie shared, summing up the couple’s feelings. Although everything seems to indicate that Jason is starting to let out his other feelings regarding their fourth pregnancy. The question is, what will Kylie think about her husband’s sincerity?
