Since that 2011 season, when they reached the Super Bowl and defeated Tom Brady’s New England Patriots for their second consecutive title, the New York Giants have had nothing but disastrous seasons: just two playoff appearances, in 2016 and 2022, and nothing more.
Jaxson Dart surprises fans with an unforgettable moment of pure madness
Since then, the New York Giants have been one of the worst teams in the NFL, and after a long time, there finally seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel: rookie Jaxson Dart, selected in the first round of last year’s Draft. The Ole Miss product has had an immediate impact since taking over the starting job in Week 4, as well as building a strong connection with the fans.
Jaxson Dart has two wins this season-against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Chargers-teams currently in playoff position. The only real criticism of Dart has been his risky playing style, which already cost him a severe concussion that kept him out for a couple of games, but his talent is undeniable.
Jaxson Dart has a clear goal for the remainder of the season
After Week 12, it was confirmed that the Giants were officially out of playoff contention. And after Week 14, they currently hold the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, meaning they are at this moment the worst team in the league with just two wins.
In a press conference, Jaxson Dart stated he has one clear goal for the rest of the season:
“Win,” said the former Ole Miss standout. Although this could be “dangerous” for the Giants-since winning games would lower their chances of selecting high in the Draft-Dart’s mentality is not focused on losing games.
Additionally, despite the Week 13 loss to the Patriots, Dart said the offense did a good job: “I was happy with our offense. I don’t feel like we take a lot of negative plays, so those were good things. I felt like, obviously, the game against the Patriots was a tough one, but I feel that as an offense we’ve been able to be pretty explosive and do some good things. So those were definitely things I was pleased with when I looked back at it.”
Up next, the Giants will face the Washington Commanders at MetLife Stadium, and due to Jayden Daniels’ injury, the Giants enter the game as 2.5-point favorites. There’s no doubt that watching Jaxson Dart is becoming increasingly exciting; he is clearly a special player who could change the face of this team.
