The current situation of the Dallas Cowboys is not the best, as they are coming off a poor 7-10 season, coupled with the fact that they have not made significant changes in their signings due to their selectively aggressive strategy in free agency.
Athlon Sports conducted an analysis of the team, noting that Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders are solid options, while Robert Jones is a backup.
Josh Allen had some words for Dak Prescott after signing huge contract extension
He adds that while in the Dallas team’s defense players Dante Fowler Jr, Soloman Thomas and Jack Sandborn seem to be the signings with the greatest potential for starting, there has not been a great splurge on free agents that many expected when Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb’s contracts were restructured.
Dallas Cowboys up to 12th
Athlon Sports also picks up on CBS Sports’ recent post-free agency rankings, where the Cowboys were ranked as low as 12th.
“The Cowboys were cautiously aggressive in free agency, upgrading at running back with Williams and Sanders after getting just six touchdowns as a group last year,” CBS Sports noted
“Having Dak Prescott healthy should help, but can this team sign Micah Parsons? Dallas made solid moves to improve the team, but how much have the Cowboys improved?
“They still have to improve in the trenches to have a chance to compete in the NFC East,” the outlet added.
Regarding the 12th place given to Dallas, Athlon Sports comments that while there is an improvement over last offseason in terms of free agency, many fans and pundits still do not see Jerry Jones’ team reaching the top of the conference.
The sports outlet believes that the outlook could change with a quick end to free agency and an excellent draft.
