Officially, the Dallas Cowboys have only interviewed four people for the head coaching job vacated by Mike McCarthy: Kellen Moore, offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles; Leslie Frazer, assistant coach of the Seattle Seahawks; former NY Jets head coach Robert Saleh; and their current offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer, who leads the betting to take on the coveted responsibility.
However, an additional element has just entered the equation, as although it is not official, various reports claim that Jerry Jones has just met with the successful coach who has won 170 games in the NFL and proud winner of a Super Bowl, Pete Carroll, who has also been linked to the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders, who are still looking for a coach, as well as the New Orleans Saints.
Where does Deion Sanders stand in the race?
The pertinent question is precisely this. Deion Sanders, who until a few days ago was a tangible possibility for the ‘Lone Star’ team, would be out of the running for several reasons, although one weighty reason that Jerry Jones is not willing to negotiate has been the final straw for the deal with the legendary former player.
Deion Sanders was never sure about leaving the Colorado Buffaloes, and although he has never said no to the Cowboys owner, it seems that certain demands he would have made, such as that he must hire his son Shedeur, would have ended up killing the option.
Sanders did not say no, but he did not say yes either
It is worth remembering what Deion Sanders told ESPN and there are many answers to questions that have already been asked, although not directly to the Colorado coach: “Listening to Jerry Jones is really wonderful and fascinating. I love Jerry and I believe in Jerry. After hanging up, processing it and thinking about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”
Was it Sanders himself who closed the door before it opened? Will it be Pete Carroll or Brian Shottenheimer who will win the ‘tiger raffle’ with the Cowboys?
