Once again, just when people think the New York Jets might have some peace in their camp, something happens to shake the calmness surrounding the team. This time, it was not something that they or the NFL could control, but it is something that will obligate them to put an end to any problems that may come after this.
It was a player in trouble, it was Tae Hayes. The cornerback for the New York Jets, was arrested on drug charges in Morgan County on Sunday morning and after he was released, he was also let go by the team soon after.
According to jail records, Hayes was charged with possession of marijuana and booked into the Morgan County Jail around 3:45 a.m. He was given $300 bail and released around 5:07 am. Jail records show the 26-year-old NFL player was arrested by the Trinity Police Department.
The Jets want no part of the issues
A day before he was released from jail, the team did the same thing and now he does not have a job as he fears it might take a while for other organizations to trust him after this.
Hayes was a star player at Decatur High School and played college football at Appalachian State before entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He has played with the Jaguars, Dolphins, Vikings, Cardinals, Panthers, Patriots, Lions, Ravens and now the Jets, until recently.
The 26-year-old player participated in 14 career games and had 18 tackles, one fumble recovery and two passes defense in the NFL. Hayes was also part of the 2022 USFL Championship team in Birmingham.
