Jordan Poole’s awkward response goes viral after young fan asks about Draymond Green incident

Jordan Poole found himself in an unexpectedly tricky situation during a New Orleans Pelicans fan event, and the moment quickly went viral.

The Pelicans were enjoying a day off following a 104-112 loss to the Detroit Pistons, and several players spent time answering questions from young fans about life in the NBA.

One little fan, however, asked Poole a question that reopened an old chapter of his career.

“How did it feel when Draymond Green punched you?” the fan asked. Poole paused before responding candidly: “It’s tough, bro.”

The brief answer was all it took to send social media into a frenzy, with fans reflecting on the infamous 2022 incident during Poole‘s time with the Golden State Warriors.

Drafted by the Warriors in 2019, Poole had been an integral part of their 2022 championship run. Yet, during a heated practice ahead of the 2022-23 season, a confrontation with Draymond Green escalated, and Poole was struck in the face. Green apologized, and the team fined him, but the incident ultimately led to Poole being traded to the Washington Wizards in 2023, marking a major turning point in his career.

Social media reacts

Fans were quick to comment on Poole‘s interaction with the young fan.

One wrote, “He felt that punch all over again,” while another joked, “How much did Draymond pay that kid to ask that?”

The clip also shows teammates Trey Murphy and Herb Jones struggling to contain their laughter, prompting comments like “Herb trying his hardest not to laugh” and “Trey Murphy face when he asked [series of laughing crying emojis].”

During the meet-and-greet, Poole also listed his favorite former Warriors teammates-Kevon Looney, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins-leaving Draymond Green notably unmentioned. The omission, paired with the fan’s question, reignited discussion about the long-standing tension between the two players.

While Poole is now with the Pelicans and averaging 14.3 points per game this season, the viral moment proved that some questions about his Warriors past never truly fade, especially when a curious fan brings them back into the spotlight.
