Kareem Hunt ‘didn’t think’ he would ever return to Kansas City to play with the Chiefs


The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing to face the Los Angeles Chargers in a crucial game in the AFC West even this early in the season. Luckily for them, they will have some help on backfield as Kareem Hunt has made his return to the team and will be active for this Sunday, at least that is the plan.

He signed with the practice squad last week and quickly was activated to the 53-man roster. After his time in Cleveland with the Browns, he as honest about his feelings towards the Kansas City organization, one that gave him an opportunity to before the team from the AFC North.

“Honestly, no, I didn’t think I’d end up back here,” Hunt said during his first interaction with the media. “But it’s crazy how some things happen to work out.” The team released the running back after a video of him pushing a woman to the ground and kicking her outside of his residence emerged in 2018. Now he is back with the Chiefs.

A second stint with a lot to look for

Head coach Andy Reid has said that he has seen a Kareem Hunt more matured, something that the player has admitted he believes is true. “I was very young at that time, 23, had a lot of success going for me, and felt like I guess I needed time to figure myself out and learn,” Hunt said.

He said that his time in Cleveland helped him a lot and now looks forward to helping the Chiefs to try and reach another championship. “I feel like it was good for me to do that, had the opportunity to go to the Browns and stuff, and that’s my hometown, so I guess it worked out.”

In 2017 he rushed for 1.327 yards for Kansas City and his best ear with the Browns was 2020 after rushing for 841 yards created a good tandem along with Nick Chubb. Now, with an injured Isiah Pacheco, the workload will fall on him as the season progresses.
