On Friday, one of the most shocking trades in the NBA in recent years took place. The New York Knicks have sent Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for one of the most important stars in the game, Karl-Anthony Towns.
The center from Dominican background, who was one of the leaders of the franchise, will play for a team other than Minnesota for the first time in his NBA career, and apparently it has not suited him at all.
Reports that indicate that he did not request any trade have emerged and because of this, his reaction upon finding out about his transfer was to write on his X account a message with ellipses, “…”.
What’s next for the Timberwolves?
Last season, Karl-Anthony Towns played 62 regular season games, all of them as a starter, and averaged 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists, with a three-point percentage of 41.6% and 50% accuracy in field goals.
KAT was selected for the NBA All-Star Game, but many of that was because he was playing alongside Anthony Edwards. Now things have changed as Edwards is now Minnesota’s main star and he will have two more complementary players who will provide depth.
However, Anthony Edwards will also see his numbers diminish if the team doesn’t pick up another piece for their roster. For Karl-Anthony Towns, he will work with Jalen Brunson, who led the Knicks to the Playoffs in what seems to be an exciting time for New York.
