The first official trailer for Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show has dropped, and he’s confirmed that SZA will join him as a guest performer.
In the 30-second clip, Kendrick takes a phone call from the NOLA football field. “What’s up with it?” he says casually. “Everything’s smooth I’m on the field right now. You know, same old, keeping the body in motion. Getting that wind up. You know, this field is a lot bigger than what people think so that’s a must,” He then hints at a special guest performer.
Suddenly, SZA appears behind him, playfully dumping a bucket of Gatorade on his head as her song “Hey Now” kicks in.
The performance’s creative direction will be handled by pgLang, Kendrick’s creative company.
This year, Kendrick and SZA have collaborated on tracks like “Luther” from Lamar’s GNX and “30 For 30” from SZA’s SOS Deluxe: LANA.
