Keshad Johnson and his brother to share special moment at NBA draft after childhood tragedy

Keshad Johnson is one of the most outstanding players in the nation, in Arizona he has done amazing plays and has helped the Wildcats to become a team to be feared in the NCAA in every encounter in their conference.

However, for him to be able to come this far, very close to fulfilling his NBA dream just days away from the draft, he and his family had to overcome a very traumatic event. Keshad calls it “the biggest story of my life.”

On November 6, 2011, his brother Kenny Johnson was shot 10 times. “It’s an overall blessing, a miracle, he’s still here on this earth being able to walk,” Keshad told the New York Post. While it was not only Keshad’s dream to play professional basketball, but it was also his brother’s dream as well, one he can no longer accomplish.

Now, he will try to get to the NBA to somehow do what his brother can’t, but with him by his side after surviving the situation that changed their lives.

What happen to Kenny Johnson?

It was a case of mistaken identity. Kenny Johnson was 14 years old at the time and he was headed home to the Lower Bottoms section of West Oakland, California. It all happens after a sleepover at a friend’s house. An SUV pulled up and two men got out and started to shoot him. One of the bullets grazed his spine.

After being taken to the hospital and being evaluated, doctors told him he would never be able to walk again. However, he has overcome those odds as he is now able to walk with forearm crutches and can drive a car with the aid of hand controls.

A remarkable story worth telling and that Keshad is trying to follow up on with his accomplishments, as he believes it is also his brother’s while he leaves on both of their dreams nearing an NBA life for him.
