Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell firmly addressed rumors on Monday regarding interest from other NFL teams in acquiring him via trade. Speaking to reporters, O’Connell dismissed the speculation and reiterated his commitment to the organization.
What I can tell you is I love this team. I love everything about this organization. This is where I want to be,” O’Connell said. “This is where I want to keep coaching and leading.
The rumors surfaced after Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer mentioned on “Fox NFL Sunday” that “multiple teams” are interested in trading for O’Connell, who has compiled an impressive 34-17 regular-season record during his three years as the Vikings‘ head coach.

Vikings ownership plans contract talks after the season
Co-owner Mark Wilf recently told the Minnesota Star Tribune that the franchise plans to negotiate contract extensions with both O’Connell and General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah once the season concludes. Both are under contract through 2025.
Despite a strong season, O’Connell is still searching for his first postseason victory as a head coach. Reflecting on the team’s recent 31-9 loss to the Lions, he noted areas for improvement in his play-calling but expressed optimism about the team’s playoff readiness.
We’re going to get ready to play a football game and hopefully get back to doing a lot of the things we’ve done consistently all season long,” O’Connell said
Injury updates ahead of the wild-card matchup
O’Connell confirmed Monday that the Vikings emerged “relatively clean” from their physical loss to the Lions. Running back Aaron Jones, who played through a quad injury, is expected to be fine for the Rams game. Meanwhile, cornerback Fabian Moreau, sidelined with a hip injury, could return after nearly making the roster last week.
The Vikings aim to regain their form as they face the Rams in a high-stakes playoff battle. With O’Connell’s leadership and unwavering focus, Minnesota is determined to make a deep postseason run.
