Kid Rock delivered a snarky critique of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance Monday, saying he “didn’t understand any of it” while weighing in on the headline-grabbing show during a Fox News appearance.
Speaking on The Ingraham Angle, Rock – who headlined the rival “All-American Halftime Show” livestream – dismissed the Spanish-language set as “not my cup of tea.”
The “All Summer Long” singer added that while he didn’t blame the artist for accepting the global platform, he faulted the NFL for booking him and argued alternative programming filled a demand among viewers.
Trump has been the most vocal critic of Bad Bunny’s selection
Rock’s comments came a day after Bad Bunny’s halftime spectacle, which featured elaborate choreography and guest appearances and celebrated Puerto Rican culture, drew polarized reactions across political and entertainment circles.
Criticism from some conservative voices followed quickly. President Donald Trump posted on social media that the performance was “terrible” and incomprehensible.
Thus, Trump echoed objections raised by critics who have long opposed the artist’s outspoken political stances and cultural messaging.
Bad Bunny has not lacked support
Support also emerged from fellow entertainers. Lady Gaga – who joined the halftime lineup – praised the collaboration on Instagram, calling it an “absolute honor.”
Television host Andy Cohen mocked detractors online, responding sarcastically to praise for the alternative show and defending the Puerto Rican superstar.
The split reaction underscored how the halftime show once again became a flashpoint for broader debates over language, identity, and politics, even as it dominated discussion following one of the most-watched nights in television.
