The NFL is in mourning after the unexpected death of Larry Allen. The legendary Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman died during a vacation in Mexico at 52. He left behind his wife Janelle, his daughters Jayla and Loriana, and his son Larry Jr.
Allen’s death was so sudden that the causes have not yet been clarified, and the family has not commented on the matter. In general, the Allen family stays out of the spotlight, and little is known about them outside of the former player.
The most notable is Larry Jr. for having signed undrafted with the Cowboys in 2019 after some good seasons with the Harvard Crimson. However, the gridiron was not for him. Also in 2019, he graduated with a degree in biomechanics, and after leaving Dallas, he began to pursue his career.
The women of the Allen family
Janelle Allen has always kept a low profile. During his Hall of Fame induction speech in 2013, the player referred to her as “my heart and soul.” He recalled that on her first date, Janelle “cooked me two chickens, French fries and baked me a cake and gave me a 40 ounce. I knew then, that was my wife right there.”
He also talked about her daughters. He said of Jayla that she was a talented actress and writer and, at that time, she was about to enter Pepperdine University. The youngest, Loriana, was playing high school basketball back then, and Allen compared her talent to that of LeBron James.
According to her Facebook profile, Jayla studied biology at Pepperdine. Loriana would have studied political sciences at the same college, according to a profile with her name and photo on LinkedIn.
The Allens are a close-knit family.
Larry Sr. was very active on social media and constantly shared images of the family’s most important moments. Among them are Larry Jr.’s graduation and some other family celebrations.
Jayla has also shared photos with her family, including a trip to Disneyland and also her brother’s graduation.
While family and friends mourn the death of Larry Allen, NFL fans continue to wait for details about his death and eventual burial.
