LeBron James just made his boldest crossover yet-and no, it’s not a sneaker collab or another Looney Tunes movie. The Los Angeles Lakers legend has officially entered the Barbie universe as Mattel’s latest “Kenbassador,” becoming the first male athlete ever to get his own official Ken doll.
Yup, King James is now Ken James.
The $75 doll is set to release later this month, but the hype has already exploded-pre-sale listings are popping off on eBay for over $150. Decked out in signature gear and wrapped in packaging that celebrates his rise from Akron to global icon, the LeBron Ken is more than a toy-it’s a tribute.
The box proudly reads: “A true MVP, our LeBron James Kenbassadors doll represents resilience, hope, and pride for the city of Akron, the world, and beyond.”
LeBron x Barbie is more than a collaboration
The collaboration is also tied to LeBron’s ongoing philanthropic efforts through the LeBron James Family Foundation, and marks a powerful message: whether it’s on the court or on a collector’s shelf, James is all about creating positive change.
Mattel’s new Kenbassadors line aims to honor figures who inspire the world-and with the Lakers icon joining names like Venus Williams and Aussie soccer star Mary Fowler, the crossover game just got elevated.
It might sound like a weird mash-up, but if Barbie can be anything, so can LeBron. And apparently, that includes becoming one of the hottest Ken dolls money can buy.
Considering Barbie’s blockbuster $1.4 billion box office smash last year and the record-setting $300K Stefanie Canturi Barbie from 2010, this collab might just be one for the history books.
