Super Bowl LIX between the Chiefs and Eagles is just 10 days away, marking the end of the NFL season. After that, MLB doesn’t start until March 18th in Japan at the Tokyo Dome, where the reigning champion Dodgers take on the Cubs. That leaves the NBA as the only major league to follow through February and early March. The NBA season is moving quickly – the All-Star Game is just two weeks away and the rosters for the event at the Chase Center have been announced. Six players will be making their first All-Star appearance, led by reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama. The other five first-time All-Stars are Jalen Williams and Alperen Sengn for the West and Evan Mobley, Tyler Herro and Cade Cunningham for the East.
Looking at the standings, both the Cleveland Cavaliers (39-9) in the East and the Oklahoma City Thunder (37-9) in the West have held at least a five-game lead over the second-place teams in their respective conferences since December. However, both teams have slowed down in recent weeks. Still, they remain on pace for the best regular seasons in franchise history in terms of wins. The next two weeks before the All-Star break will be key to seeing how these standings shake out. Right now, things are extremely tight – the 4th through 11th seeds in the West are separated by just four games, while the 4th through 8th seeds in the East are also separated by four games. This could lead to one of the most unpredictable finishes to a regular season in NBA history.
LeBron James’ Proudest Moment as a Father
One of the teams that is always in the NBA spotlight is the Los Angeles Lakers, and this season the attention is even greater after they drafted Bronny James. While he wasn’t considered NBA-ready, drafting him was an opportunity not to be missed because of the historic chance to see him play alongside his father, LeBron. Bronny has been solid in the G-League, recently putting up his best numbers as a pro. However, his NBA opportunities have shown just how different the level of competition is.
Fortunately for Bronny, the Lakers faced the worst team in the league – the Washington Wizards, the only team with single-digit wins this season and two separate 16-game losing streaks. The game was essentially over by halftime, with the Lakers winning by nearly 30 points. LeBron, at 40 years old, continues to put on a show as if he were still 30. This comfortable lead allowed Bronny to play in the fourth quarter. No disrespect, but the Wizards really looked like a G-League team. Bronny took advantage, scoring on an and-one under the rim and delivering a perfect alley-oop assist to fellow G-League player Christian Koloko.
LeBron couldn’t hide his joy and pride as he watched Bronny shine. While his development is slow, there’s no need to rush him. Bronny hadn’t scored in an NBA game since November, making this his best performance of 2025. But LeBron’s proud dad moment didn’t end there – his other son, Bryce James, who recently announced his commitment to the University of Arizona, also had an outstanding game for his high school, Sierra Canyon. After the Lakers’ win over the Wizards, LeBron took to ‘X’ to congratulate Bryce, who some analysts believe could have a better career than Bronny. Time will tell, as he’s just starting to play at the college level. Could Bryce get a chance to play with LeBron in the NBA? I doubt it – but then again, you can never bet against LeBron.
Lakers Trade Rumors
The NBA Trade Deadline is this coming Thursday, February 6th, and there are a lot of names floating around in trade rumors. Many teams are looking to upgrade their roster for what is expected to be an incredible playoff run. The biggest names being mentioned are De’Aaron Fox, Jimmy Butler and Bradley Beal. Any team that lands Fox or Butler would be an instant contender. Personally, I see Fox as the most likely to be moved, especially since his agent is Rich Paul, is the same as LeBron who has deep ties to the Lakers, and it seems like Fox could be the missing piece of a new Big Three with James and Anthony David. The question? What can Los Angeles offer Sacramento in return?
