LeBron James is a proud man, and this time it is not sons Bronny and Bryce who are responsible. The LeBron James Family Foundation works with families in Akron, Ohio, James’ hometown, and back in 2020, they partnered with Kent State University as part of their education outreach program.
Four years on, the partnership has produced its first graduate, with young Anthony Clayton making it through college with a degree.
A post from the foundation’s page stated: “Remember in 2020 when Kent State University guaranteed free tuition for 4 years + 1 year of room & board for LeBron James’ first class of I Promise students that started this journey in 2011? Today, we celebrate our very FIRST college graduate… Anthony Claytor!”
James himself reposted the tweet and added: “CONGRATULATIONS ANTHONY!!!! SO PROUD OF YOU YOUNG KING!!!”
A successful program for more than a decade
Under the I Promise program, the LeBron James Family Foundation is making education accessible and affordable for as many as 1600 students.
Back in 2020, the program teamed up with Kent State University to offer college spots to young adults in need of a helping hand. The program aims to give underprivileged students access to education and support, and it is still clearly achieving that aim 13 years after its inception.
