LeBron James summons his inner critic to review Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in new ‘Bad Boys’ film

Since exploding onto the scene as a high school basketball star in the early 2000s, LeBron James has carefully cultivated a public image built around his stardom on the court and his many interests off it. James, a four-time NBA champion and the league’s all-time points leader, has inspired a legion of fans and players while building a business empire off the back of his various endorsements and investments in media — like music and movies.

James and longtime agent Rich Paul own the production company SpringHill Entertainment, and part of the reason James decided to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018 was to become more involved in the film industry. James, known for chiming in on a variety of pop culture topics, has offered his views on a new film sweeping through Hollywood: the new “Bad Boys” movie, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

LeBron reveals his thoughts on “Bad Boys 4”

James on Monday took to X (formerly Twitter) to offer an impromptu review of “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” which arrived in theaters last Friday. James took the weekend to see the film, and he apparently loved what he saw — he said the movie is “so damn good,” and the chemistry between Lawrence and Smith is as good as ever.

Ride or Die” roared into theaters and outperformed expectations, grossing over $100 million worldwide on opening weekend against a $100 million budget. The fourth installment in the “Bad Boys” series is already the summer’s first hit movie ahead of the release of “Twisters” later this month, and its strong performance with viewers has come amidst concerns over the 59-year-old Lawrence’s health and well-being.

Still, with James on board as a confirmed “Bad Boys” fan, the new movie might see even better numbers on its second weekend in theaters thanks to his positive review.
