In an interview with El Diario de NY, Giovanni Savarese said that he has done enough to be the next Inter Miami coach, even though the board led by David Beckham has not said whether they have already made progress in the search for their next coach.
“I know MLS very well. It will depend on the idea of the club and the players. I feel that I have many things that cover the check list to be able to be the coach of that team. There is a Latin base that would help having a Latin coach or someone who knows how to speak Spanish,” Savarese told the New York Daily News.
Savarese has the key for Inter Miami to be champions
“You need someone who knows the league well because I think you have to understand how it works to prepare well for a full championship like ‘Tata’ Martino did,” Savarese said of the secret for Inter Miami to have a chance to be champions for the first time in the MLS Cup.
“I was lucky enough to coach several high-level players such as Raul, Marcos Senna, Juan Arango. I feel that I can be a person with an interesting profile for the club,” added the Venezuelan, who was the first coach from his country to reach MLS.
There are still weeks to go before the next coach is known, but one thing is for sure: Messi’s influence on the board to bring in a coach who is in tune with his footballing ideas and Luis Suarez.
