As of March 16, 2025, the Luigi Mangione Defense Fund has raised over $730,000 on GiveSendGo, reflecting intense public interest in the case of the 26-year-old accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Launched in December 2024 with an initial goal of $200,000, the fund has surged past that mark—boosted by over 18,000 donors and a recent whopping $36,500 donation given by an anonymous donor. The $36.5k donor said of their donation:
Mangione’s legal team, headed by Karen Friedman Agnifilo, is using the funds to defend him against state and federal charges, including first-degree murder and terrorism, ahead of his March 19 court date in New York. The fund is now aiming for a goal of $1 million.
Supporters, frustrated with healthcare inequities, see the fund as a way to ensure his right to a fair defense, though critics decry the glorification of an alleged killer. With donations still pouring in and public opinion sharply divided, the fund highlights the complex and polarizing situation surrounding Mangione’s actions and his looming legal battle.
